Number of Flights in Georgian Airspace increased by 29% in 2024
According to the statistical data of 2024, the number of flights in Georgian airspace has increased by 29% compared to the same period of the previous year. The statistics have improved both in terms of transit flights and take-offs and landings. During the current year, “Sakaeronavigatsia” Ltd served 299,023 flights in Georgian airspace, which is 66,532 flights and 29% more than in the same period of the previous year. This indicator includes both take-offs and landings performed at Georgian airports, as well as the number of transit flights using Georgian airspace.
During 2024, 234,292 transit flights were performed in Georgian airspace, which is 53,514 flights and 30% more than the same period in 2023. The number of take-offs and landings at Georgian airports has increased as well. In 2024, the number of take-offs and landings at Georgian airports amounted to 64,731 flights and increased by 13,018 flights and 25% compared to the reporting period of the previous year.
Increase according to Georgian airports is also observed. This year, 45,597 take-offs and landings were performed at Tbilisi International Airport, which is an increase of 10,407 flights and 30% compared to the same period last year. During the reporting period, 8,140 take-offs and landings were performed at Batumi International Airport, which is an increase of 2,457 flights and 43% compared to the same period last year. During 2024, “Sakaeronavigatsia” served 10,070 flights at Kutaisi International Airport, which is 1% more than the same period last year.
Georgian airspace is most frequently used for transit flights by TURKISH AIRLINES INC. (28,535), AZERBAIJAN AIRLINES – AZAL (13,219), DEUTSCHE LUFTANSA (9,064), SINGAPORE AIRLINES Ltd (8,218) and KOREAN AIRLINES CO. LTD (7,832), while the top users of take-off and landing operations at Georgian airports in 2024 were again WIZZ AIR HUNGARY KFT (6,434), GEORGIAN AIRWAYS (5,258), TURKISH AIRLINES INC. (3,925), AZERBAIJAN AIRLINES – AZAL (3,847) and PEGASUS AIRLINES (3,243).
