The Eighth Working Meeting Of The Air Navigation Services Implementation Support Group

In Tbilisi, the eighth working meeting of the Air Navigation Services Implementation Support Group (ANSISG/8) is underway, initiated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The event aims to enhance air navigation services and improve technical coordination among countries in ICAO’s European region. It brings together representatives from ICAO member states, regional aviation organizations, and civil aviation experts.

The main topics of discussion during the working meeting—which will continue through the end of the week—include completed projects, current challenges, and future steps to support the implementation and development of a safe, efficient, and standards-based air navigation system in the region.

“The core theme of the meeting is the coordinated implementation of activities outlined in the Global Air Navigation Plan and their execution at the regional level. The Global Plan encompasses both infrastructure and procedural development. Harmonization of these developments across the region is crucial to ensure that all countries are equally prepared to provide air traffic services and uphold high safety standards,” stated Zurab Avalishvili, Deputy Director General of Sakaeronavigatsia.

Discussions during the meeting will also address the integration of modern technologies, enhancement of personnel qualifications, data-sharing mechanisms, and the strengthening of regional cooperation. Participants in the working meeting will develop a concrete action plan and agree on next steps, which will reinforce partnerships and contribute to the advancement of aviation systems in the region.
